Statement

Mindscapes are formations of environments that are reassembled landscapes of a former consciousness. The basis of my work revisits corrosive and psychologically traumatic memories; I break down recollections, remove the human interaction, but a presence, or ghost impression, remains within the space. My patterns of thoughts are focused on key incidents, which are broken down mentally, to form a less distressing recollection. Retracing steps becomes a collision of both pleasant and toxic memories. This process expresses the fluctuation in emotions causing the formation of fragmented landscapes.

The process of stone lithography parallels the alteration of awareness and its deterioration over time. The stone is altered just as one’s memory is altered as time goes on. The repetitive action of producing multiplies degrades the impact of the personal experience.
